Juvenile Crimes

Dedicated to Giving Minors a Second Chance

When a minor makes a mistake — as anyone can — it is important to prevent that one incident from ruining the child's entire future. Being found guilty of a juvenile crime can negatively impact your son or daughter's future career and educational opportunities. If your child has been charged with a juvenile crime, it is vital that you hire an experienced defense lawyer who understands the juvenile court system to fight the charge.

My name is John W. Hartmann. I have extensive experience in defending individuals charged with juvenile crimes. At my office in Princeton Junction, New Jersey, I serve clients in Mercer County and the surrounding area.

As a criminal defense lawyer with 15 years of litigation experience, I have dedicated my career to criminal law. Because I have stood on both sides of a case, I understand how the opposition thinks. That enables me to build an aggressive defense strategy for your child.

Experienced Defense Against All Juvenile Crime Charges

Juveniles can be charged with many of the same crimes adults commit. I represent juvenile defendants charged with any crimes, including:

Generally, the sentences in juvenile court are less severe than in adult court, often including community service. However, a minor faces the possibility of confinement in a juvenile hall for years. That's why it's so important to fight a juvenile crime charge aggressively.

Fighting Against Transferring Your Case Into Adult Court

In some instances, the prosecution may attempt to get a waiver and transfer a case from juvenile court into adult court. If the opposition is successful, the minor faces much harsher penalties when tried as an adult. Further, a criminal record in adult court will not be sealed when the minor turns 18, unlike in juvenile court. As your defense attorney, I will fight vigorously against any such waivers.
